Washington County is located in south western Pennsylvania just south of the City of Pittsburgh. Washington County is the home of 203,000 resident living in 67 municipalities.
Of the 67 municipalities 13 police departments have joined to form a regional "Special Response Team". This team was formed to provide a regional response to such situations as; Terrorist Incidents, Hostage Situations, Barricaded Gunmen, Active Shooting Situations, and other incident which would require the response of a specialized team of police officers.
This team also stands ready to assist other departments of Washington County and the South Western Pennsylvania counties and the City of Pittsburgh who form Region 13 Terrorism Task Force.
All of the officers that make up this team have received specialized training from the U.S. Military.
